Top 15 up +5% from last weekend

The UK box office saw a lift this weekend, driven by strong franchise holdovers, animated crowd-pleasers, and nostalgic horror. Let’s dive into the highlights and milestones across this vibrant top 15.

Superman #1 for Second Week

Superman retained the top spot with a sturdy £4,877,459 despite a 30% drop, though with previews of around £2.5 it probably increased 8% from last weekend. Across 706 screens, the superhero reboot has tallied £16,391,993 in just two weeks.

Jurassic World Rebirth Stays Alive at #2

In its third week, Jurassic World Rebirth climbed 2% from last weekend with £3,295,875, bringing its running total to £24,938,490. Its hold suggests strong audience retention, edging toward blockbuster territory. Jurassic World: Dominion grossed £35,108,660 after 17 weeks, Rebirth has made 70% of this already.

 F1 Keeps Speeding Forward

Racing drama F1 posted another impressive climb: up 8% to £1,260,688 in its fourth weekend. Now standing at £18,241,245, it’s proving to be a leggy mid-summer hit with mass appeal.

Smurfs Opens at #4: A Modest Blue Splash

Opening to £1,212,110 across 602 screens, Smurfs marks the 26th best debut of 2025, just behind Ne Zha 2. By comparison:

  • Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017) opened to £1,383,059 (incl. £22,980 from previews)

  • That version ended at £5,791,810 total

This iteration might trail slightly in its opening, but school holidays could help extend its run over the next few weeks.

I Know What You Did Last Summer — 90s Terror Returns

Revived for a 2025 audience, I Know What You Did Last Summer debuted at £941,968 on 498 screens, making it the 37th best opening of the year. It sits just behind Elio, which impressively surged 28% this weekend.

Let’s take a look at historical benchmarks:

  • Original (1997): £1,480,505 debut; £4,531,476 total

  • Sequel (1998): £802,498 debut; £2,657,571 total

While the new version opened lower than the original, it surpassed the sequel and could build momentum through genre fans and nostalgic buzz.
