Topping the chart and debuting to the best opening weekend of the year A Minecraft Movie opens to £15,013,136. Dominating the box office, it took in 76% of the entire top 15 gross. Along with the best opening weekend of the year, it also scored a better opening than recent films such as Wicked, Inside Out 2 and just shy of The Super Mario Bros. Movies’ £15.9m opening weekend.

Six The Musical also opened strongly this weekend, taking second place and £2,139,373. This was the 9th best opening of the year behind A Complete Unknown.

Death Of A Unicorn settles for 4th place with £487,459, not the strongest start at the 28th best opening of the year behind Maria January debut.

The top 15 grossed £19,828,530, up 63% from last weekend.
