The UK box office saw a strong influx of new titles this weekend, with Weapons and Freakier Friday leading the charge. Holdovers like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Jurassic World Rebirth continued to show staying power, while Bring Her Back collapsed dramatically in the wake of fresh competition.

New Entries:

Weapons (Warner Bros Int’l) debuted at No. 1 with £2,818,535, including £253,533 from previews. This marks the 18th highest opening of the year, just behind We Live in Time, and surpasses Sinners (£2,424,594). With a wide release across 619 screens, Weapons has positioned itself as a late-summer breakout.

Freakier Friday landed at No. 2 with £1,758,698 across 656 screens, making it the 121st widest release in UK history. It also ranks as the 26th top opening of the year, just behind the Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith re-release. Compared to the original 2003 Freaky Friday, which opened with £1,214,559 and went on to gross £6,393,998, the sequel is off to a stronger start.

Mahavatar Narsimha entered at No. 15 with £59,816 from just 42 screens. While modest, it reflects solid niche interest.

Notable Holdovers

The Fantastic Four: First Steps dropped 55% in its third weekend but still pulled in £1,379,975, bringing its total to £19,034,075. Despite the decline, it remains a top performer.

Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman both saw 48% drops, earning £663,735 and £650,520 respectively. Their cumulative grosses—£33,403,993 and £26,013,719—underscore their long-term appeal.

Bring Her Back suffered a steep 90% fall to £117,944, a dramatic collapse following Weapons’ release. Excluding previews, the drop was 76%, signalling a sharp loss of audience interest.

Films to Watch Next Week

The upcoming slate is packed, but all eyes are on Nobody 2, expected to be the biggest opener. Other releases include:

  • War 2 – a high-profile pan-Indian action thriller

  • Materialists – a rom-com from Past Lives director Celine Song

  • Bambi: A Tale Of Life In The Woods

  • Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai (4K Restoration)

  • Coolie and Coolie (Ireland)

  • Motherboard, Unmoored, Together, Night Always Comes

  • Yungblud. Are You Ready, Boy?

  • Oslo Stories Trilogy: Love

  • Super Charlie

  • Central Station (4K Re-Issue)

  • Hum Sub

With Nobody 2 leading the charge and War 2 drawing international interest, next weekend promises a dynamic reshuffling of the top 10.
