The UK box office delivered a sharply reshaped frame this weekend, with the top 15 generating £12,033,604, a 13% drop from last weekend. A major franchise debut reset the market, pushing several long‑running performers into steeper declines while a handful of new titles added breadth across the lower half of the chart.

Weekend roundup

Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu: £5,291,385; Week 1. A commanding launch that instantly becomes the 6th biggest opening weekend of the year, landing just behind Project Hail Mary. On the all time chart it enters at 306th, sitting just behind Zootopia. Its arrival reshaped the entire market, displacing last week’s leaders and absorbing the majority of premium screen capacity.

Michael: £1,781,990; Week 6; down 58%. A heavy fall, but its total climbs to £44,292,051, placing it as the 77th highest grossing film ever, just behind The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Despite the drop, it remains one of the year’s most durable performers.

Obsession: £1,284,749; Week 2; up 2%. The only major hold to improve weekend on weekend, mirroring its US uptick. Its total of £3,953,954 lifts it to the 16th top grossing film of the year, now sitting just behind Reminders Of Him.

The Devil Wears Prada 2: £1,149,500; Week 4; down 64%. A steep fall triggered by the Star Wars debut, but its total climbs to £30,209,206. It crosses the £30 million threshold and now ranks as the 177th highest grossing film ever, just behind A Star Is Born.

Drishyam 2: £835,968; Week 184. A late‑cycle re‑release that delivered a surprisingly strong showing, boosted by concentrated fan turnout.

The Sheep Detectives: £538,088; Week 3; down 61%. A sharp decline after last week’s preview‑inflated frame. Total now £6,509,177.

Passenger: £335,576; Week 1. A modest but respectable start for a mid‑range thriller.

Finding Emily: £212,752; Week 1. A soft but targeted opening for a niche drama.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie: £121,386; Week 9. Continues its long tail with a total of £37,522,468, one of the year’s strongest final grosses.

The Christophers: £115,477; Week 2; down 71%. A steep fall after a preview‑supported debut, but its total of £841,931 remains notable for a small‑scale release.

Charlie The Wonderdog: £113,090; Week 1. A family‑friendly opener with potential for half‑term uplift.

Mortal Kombat II: £106,904; Week 3; down 82%. A heavy drop as its fan‑driven audience moves on. Total now £3,256,212.

Karuppu: £63,010; Week 2; down 73%. A sharp fall but a solid total of £386,329 for a limited‑reach title.

Project Hail Mary: £46,926; Week 10; down 76%. With £34,408,667 to date, it remains one of the year’s standout performers.

Tom & Jerry: Forbidden Compass: £36,803; Week 1. A quiet start for a late‑season family release.

Holdovers and milestones

Michael’s climb to 77th on the all time chart underscores its exceptional staying power, even as weekend drops intensify. The Devil Wears Prada 2 crossing £30 million cements its status as one of the year’s major adult‑skewing successes, now ranking 177th all time. Obsession’s rare second‑week increase marks it as the only true holdover standout, rising to 16th on the yearly chart. Project Hail Mary and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie continue to post some of the most impressive final grosses among long‑running titles, while The Sheep Detectives and Mortal Kombat II saw the heaviest declines as the new blockbuster absorbed audience share.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu delivered one of the year’s strongest launches, while Michael, Prada 2 and Obsession continued to build impressive cumulative totals.
