  • 4 min read

The weekend delivered a lively but sharply reduced frame, with the top fifteen combining for £15,913,210. That places this weekend as the 11th best of the year, down 39 percent from last weekend’s elevated preview supported totals. A trio of new releases added fresh texture to the chart, while several major holdovers continued to carve out notable positions on the all time rankings.

Weekend roundup

Spider Man: Brand New Day: £6,148,221; 745 screens; Week 3; down 49 percent. The fall is steeper than last weekend’s preview inflated frame, but the film remains a powerhouse. Its total of £78,755,985 positions it as the 12th highest grossing film of all time, sitting just behind Avatar: The Way of Water. On the adjusted chart it ranks 54th, just behind Monsters, Inc. It remains firmly on course to top £100 million.

The Odyssey: £3,761,881; 728 screens; Week 5; down 29 percent. A strong hold for a film now deep into its run. With £69,086,595 to date, it stands as the 20th highest grossing film ever, just behind Titanic, and 81st on the adjusted chart behind The Godfather. Current trajectories suggest a finish around £82 million, which would place it inside the all time top ten.

The End Of Oak Street: £2,112,782; 649 screens; Week 1. Includes £77,514 from 189 previews. A solid mid level launch that lands as the 26th best opening of the year behind The Drama, and the 16th widest release of 2026. Early signs point to a finish near £6 million.

KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS: £725,419; 163 screens; Week 1. Includes £356,531 from 148 previews. A music driven event opening that leans heavily on preview attendance. Without previews, the weekend sits at £368,888, a modest figure but in line with Trafalgar’s typical niche audience rollouts.

Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie: £695,004; 643 screens; Week 2; down 59 percent. Fall off without previews is 37 percent. The film’s total now stands at £3,218,819.

Toy Story 5: £527,794; 644 screens; Week 9; down 28 percent. With £55,248,189 to date, it ranks as the 44th highest grossing film ever behind Bohemian Rhapsody. It is the 3rd highest grossing entry in the franchise and the 3rd top grossing film of 2026. A final total around £58 million remains likely.

Minions and Monsters: £403,734; 609 screens; Week 7; down 26 percent. Total now £17,190,225.

Tony: £402,472; 101 screens; Week 1. Includes £110,128 from 292 previews. A preview driven start for A24’s latest, with the core weekend at £292,344.

Moana: £326,264; 569 screens; Week 6; down 30 percent. Total now £12,742,878.

Vishwanath and Sons: £279,945; 97 screens; Week 1. A compact but respectable regional opening.

Awarapan 2: £198,627; 67 screens; Week 1.

Sunny Dancer: £97,404; 331 screens; Week 1. Includes £13,638 from 154 previews.

The Invite: £92,999; 149 screens; Week 7; down 35 percent. Total now £4,041,626.

Obsession: £70,350; 186 screens; Week 14; down 25 percent. Total now £19,770,034.

Lady: £70,314; 56 screens; Week 1. Includes £21,254 from 25 previews.

Holdovers and milestones

Spider Man: Brand New Day continues its march toward £100 million, already securing a place among the top fifteen highest grossers in UK history. The Odyssey remains one of the year’s most impressive performers, now firmly positioned among the twenty highest grossing films ever and on track to break into the all time top ten. Toy Story 5 maintains its status as the third biggest film of 2026 and the third highest grossing entry in its franchise. Obsession’s £19.7 million total marks a quietly strong long tail run, while Minions and Monsters and Moana continue to provide reliable family audience stability.

Ones to watch next week

A varied slate arrives, but one title stands out as the likely market leader. Insidious: Out Of The Further is expected to dominate multiplexes, with the franchise’s strong UK following giving it a clear advantage heading into the weekend

Final take

A £15.9 million frame kept the market active despite a sharp week on week decline. Spider Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey continue to deliver heavyweight results, while Toy Story 5 remains one of the year’s most durable performers. New entries provided a mix of mid level launches and preview supported niche openings. Next weekend’s arrival of Insidious: Out Of The Further should give the market a clear new leader, supported by a diverse slate across multiplexes and specialty venues.
